Syllabus Information
Curriculum
Small group learning will take place to help support students’ needs and abilities. Students will be progressed monitored throughout the year in all subjects. A complete listing of standards can be accessed through the South Carolina Department of Education web site. https://ed.sc.gov/instruction/standards/
* Grades are not given in kindergarten. Students will be assessed based on the Greenville county kindergarten skills report each 9 weeks. Students will be marked according to how they are mastering end of the year expectations. Conferences will be held at the end of the first quarter and can be scheduled if desired thereafter.
Expectations
We will focus on specific school wide expectations. These expectations can be remembered using the acrostic SHINE.
Show respect
Hold yourself accountable
Inspire others
Never give up
Everyday make good choices
Behavior
I focus on rewarding students for positive behavior. When students exhibit positive behaviors, they will be rewarded individually by receiving a small piece of candy or a trip to the treat box. Daily behavior will be documented on a monthly calendar with a smiley face or a sad face accompanied with a note. The color of ink used to draw the face does not indicate positive or negative behavior. Please initial it each night and keep the calendar in your child’s folder. If your child exhibits negative behavior then I will conference with them during their recess time. I will contact parents as needed.

Chaperoning & Volunteering
We will take several field trips and we will offer several opportunities for you to help in the classroom this year. Information for these events will come home as they arise. If you wish to chaperone on these trips or volunteer within the classroom, you must be a Level II certified volunteer per Greenville County School District. For more information visit our school’s website and click on the parent tab. It takes 2 weeks to receive clearance from the district. This will last for 3 years. All students must ride the bus to the field trip destination and then back to school. Siblings are not allowed to accompany our class on any field trips.
