About Me

Hey parents and family of Beck Academy, my name is Kathleen Hobbs and I'm teaching the Multi-Cat Special Education Classroom this year.   My number one goal as a Teacher is to create a safe, engaging, learning environment.  Safety is a huge priority for me, not only in the sense of my student's physical well-being but I want to give them a sense of Home here in my classroom. Your child is now part of my family and I will do my very best to keep them safe from harm and growing physically, mentally, socially, and emotionally.

This is my 6th year at Beck Academy and South Carolina- but it is actually my 11th year teaching.  I am proudly from the other side of the South, good ole' Mississippi where I lived the majority of my life and teaching career.

I graduated from Blue Mountain College with a BS in Education, and then attained my Masters of Education: with a focus in Special Education from Arkansas State University.  I was originally inspired to go into the Education field by my parents, who are both happily retired teachers now.  My older brother Will was and continues to be my inspiration for focusing on Special Education.  This population has a certain determination and willpower that truly inspires and encourages me on a daily basis to do my personal best for them.

I have a 9 year old dog named Jaggers, who is trained to be a Sensory dog for the classroom and other various settings.  We enjoying serving individuals who need a little extra love, and have been involved with the Ronald McDonald house, nursing homes, and Special Olympics whenever possible.
