In accordance with Greenville County Schools’ grading practices and the South Carolina Uniform Grading Scale, grades are based on the quality of a student’s demonstrated learning. No grading floor is applied; therefore, grades reflect the student’s actual performance on assignments and assessments. Students will receive timely feedback, multiple opportunities to practice essential skills, and support throughout the learning process to promote continued academic growth.
Our goal is to ensure that grades communicate learning accurately while fostering responsibility, perseverance, critical thinking, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
A grade is not a measure of a student’s worth or potential. Likewise, a zero does not define a student—it simply indicates that there is currently little or no evidence of learning for that assignment. Every student is encouraged to learn from mistakes, seek support, and take advantage of opportunities for growth. We believe that perseverance, reflection, and continued effort are essential parts of the learning process, and every student has the ability to grow and achieve success.
