My name is Jessica Newhart, and I am excited for my second year as the Assistant Principal of the GCS Virtual Program K-8. I also have 21 years of experience in education, having taught in both traditional classrooms and virtual settings--both live and asynchronous. I have served as a Professional Learning Specialist and Project Officer for a federal Education Innovation and Research grant project in Charleston County School District. My passion lies in building inclusive, engaging school cultures where every student feels seen, supported, and empowered to succeed. I have a strong passion for supporting students, faculty and staff, parents, and stakeholders. I am honored to be part of the GCS Virtual Family and am committed to innovation and excellence in virtual education.
In my free time, you can usually find me with my husband and four daughters! We love competitive family game nights and traveling, but we spend a lot of time cheering on our kids in their various activities. Our oldest is a proud Clemson Tiger. Our middle keeps us busy with travel volleyball and Blue Ridge varsity volleyball and soccer. Our youngest two are fraternal twins with personalities and interests that have us moving in different directions at all times! They recently started travel softball, so most of my time outside of school is either on a field or in a gym! I also enjoy Pilates, reading, and spending time outside.
