All About Mrs. Jenkins

Welcome to fifth grade! I am so excited to be your teacher this year! I can't wait to get to know you, but first let me tell you a little bit about me!

I was born and raised in the Greenville area where I attended Simpsonville Elementary, Hillcrest Middle, and Mauldin High. In high school, I had the opportunity to participate in the Teacher Cadet program where I fell in love with teaching. After high school, I continued my education at Clemson University where I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education. Additionally, I recently received my Master's from Kansas University in Curriculum and Instruction. This will be my seventh year of teaching 5th grade at Buena Vista Elementary.

Along with teaching I enjoy the simple things life has to offer. On the weekends I like to spend time with my wonderful husband, dog, family, and friends. In my spare time I enjoy watching movies, reading books, exploring the great outdoors, and cheering on the Clemson Tigers and Pittsburgh Steelers.

I am extremely passionate about teaching. As a teacher my goal is to help my students acquire the knowledge, skills, habits, values, and attitudes to become productive members of society. I encourage students to take initiative in their learning and present them with opportunities that will allow them to think critically. I truly believe every child is capable of learning and achieving success if given the appropriate amount of support and guidance. Throughout this year, my hope is to instill a passion for lifelong learning into each child.
