Chorus Schedule for the Remainder of the Year!
Tuesday, April 14th - No Chorus!!! The District Honor Choir event is happening that evening and we have 4 Crestview 5th graders participating in this wonderful event.
Sunday, April 19th - Greenville Drive Baseball Game!!! If you have not yet purchased your tickets, please use this link to do so. Please add a ticket for your student to the cart and then enter "sing" in the Promotion Code box to take off the price of their ticket. Gates open at 2:00pm and we will need all performers at the top of Section 115 by 2:15pm. The game starts at 3:05pm. Students will wear their black Crestview Chorus polo shirts on top and can wear pants or shorts (please no athletic shorts/pants. more like jeans or khaki). If your student is singing, please make sure they are practicing and have the song memorized. Here is a recording they can practice with.
Tuesday, April 21st - Full Chorus rehearsal during normal time. ALL SONGS AND SPEAKING PARTS NEED TO BE MEMORIZED. This is a challenge, especially for larger roles. Parents, you can support your student by reading lines with them so they can practice at home. All audio recordings are in the Google Classroom for them to practice singing along with.
Tuesday, April 28th - Full Chorus rehearsal during normal time.
Tuesday, May 5th -Full Chorus rehearsal during normal time.
Wednesday, May 6th - FIELD TRIP DRESS REHEARSAL - After lunch, around 1pm, students will travel by bus to the J. Harley Bonds Center for a rehearsal from 1pm-4:30pm. We will practice onstage with microphones and props. They do not need their costumes for the rehearsal. Parents will need to pick up students from the Bonds Center in their front bus loop at 4:30pm. I know transportation can be tricky, so arranging carpools with friends in chorus is a great idea and just needs to be communicated to me. I will be looking for 3 chaperones. You must be an approved Level 2 volunteer. I will take the first 3 that respond.
Thursday, May 7th @6pm - Chorus Musical!!! This is at the J. Harley Bonds Center where we were for the winter program. Please have students arrive by 5:40pm and meet me at the stage. COSTUMES - If your child has a special part from the cast list, I will be providing their costume and will get that to them soon. If your child is part of the ensemble/townspeople, they can wear pants and solid shirts for boys and girls can wear simple dresses.
Tuesday, May 12th - End of year chorus party during regular chorus time.
Chorus Expectations:
Attendance – Students must attend all weekly rehearsals and performances. Rehearsals are on TUESDAYS (this is a change from last year) from 2:15pm-3:15pm and parents will need to provide transportation at the end of rehearsals. Rehearsals will not begin until September 23rd and a detailed schedule will go home with those students who have been selected to participate. If the student is not at school on a Chorus rehearsal day, that absence is excused.
Commitment – Students who are selected for chorus will remain in the chorus for the entire school year and will fully participate during rehearsals.
Excellent Behavior – Students are expected to be respectful and participate during rehearsals and performances. I have a 3 strike rule. Each time a student receives a strike, I will send home a paper with the student so that the parents are aware. I will also make a phone call at the 2nd strike. After the 3rd strike, the student will no longer be in the chorus. Chorus students represent Crestview within the school and the community, so they are expected to be respectful, responsible and ready to learn.
