Welcome to 7th Grade Math! I am excited to begin this journey with you and your family. It is hard to believe, but you are already halfway to high school graduation. Seventh grade is an important year, and I am honored to be part of it.
My goal is simple: to help every student become more confident—not only in mathematics, but in themselves.
Mathematics is much more than learning formulas and solving equations. Every lesson is an opportunity to develop problem-solving skills, perseverance, responsibility, and confidence. These are the same skills that will help students succeed in high school, college, careers, and everyday life.
I am the proud mother of an amazing daughter who splits her time between Seattle, Washington, and Atlanta, Georgia. Family has always been one of the greatest blessings in my life.
Before becoming a teacher, I enjoyed successful careers in banking, manufacturing, and strategic procurement. I served as an Assistant Vice President at a regional bank, Purchasing Manager for General Motors Automotive, and Strategic Procurement Manager for GE Gas Turbine.
Teaching is my third career—and without question, the most rewarding.
Those previous careers taught me that employers value much more than technical knowledge. They look for people who can think critically, communicate effectively, solve problems, work as a team, and take responsibility for their work. Those same qualities are the foundation of our classroom every day.
My classroom is built on a few simple beliefs:
Every student can learn mathematics.
Mistakes are opportunities to learn.
Hard work is more important than being "naturally good at math."
Questions are always welcome.
Respect, kindness, and responsibility matter every single day.
Students will participate in hands-on activities, collaborate with classmates, explain their mathematical thinking, and challenge themselves to grow. My hope is that every student leaves class saying, "I understand more today than I did yesterday."
When I'm not teaching, I enjoy spending time with family, volunteering in the community, gardening, learning new technology, and finding creative ways to make mathematics engaging for students.
One of my favorite parts of teaching is continually discovering new strategies, tools, and activities that help students become more successful learners.
I will always challenge you to do your best.
I will encourage you when learning becomes difficult.
I will celebrate your successes—both big and small.
I will never expect perfection, but I will always expect effort.
If you are willing to work hard, ask questions, and never give up, I promise to do everything I can to help you succeed.
"Success isn't about being the smartest person in the room. It's about showing up each day ready to learn, willing to work hard, and refusing to give up."
Welcome to 7th Grade Math! I can't wait to see all that we accomplish together this year.
