First of all, thank you for the opportunity to work with your child in visual arts this year! I am an artist and early childhood educator with a passion for thinking "out of the box" and getting creative! I try to find ways to make learning fun and individualized for each student. With an undergraduate degree in Studio Arts and a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of South Carolina, I love to find ways to help students develop their creative talents and learn an appreciation for art and the amazing place it holds in history and the future . I have previously taught kindergarten, first and second grade as well over the past 29 years.
My husband and I have three amazing children and one precious granddaughter. My oldest son, Wilson, is an attorney in Charleston, SC. My son Weston graduated from Presbyterian College and is now a dentist in Greer, SC. My daughter, Abby Wynn graduated from the The University of South Carolina and is in a pediatric dental residency at MUSC. Go Gamecocks - Go Blue Hose and go Citadel Bulldogs. I can't forget to mention our biggest baby, Shugg, our chocolate lab !
I am passionate about finding opportunities to infuse our artistic talents with science, technology and mathematics. Did you know that many artists were scientists as well? All artists use inquiry and problem solving processes to refine their artistic talents.
