About Mrs. Wilkes

I have been an elementary classroom teacher for 40+ years.  I am highly qualified in both elementary education and Spanish.  I lived in Spain for a year while I attended St. Lawrence University in upstate New York.  Upon graduating I lived and taught 3rd grade in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.  I taught 4th and 6th grades in Arizona.  When my family moved to South Carolina, I began teaching Spanish at Sara Collins Elementary, where I remained for 18 years. Previously I was a reading interventionist here at Westcliffe.  This is my second year on the third grade team!

My husband, Richard, and I have a 35 year old daughter, Elizabeth.  She and her husband live in Chicago, where she is a Speech Language Pathologist. Our son, Pete, is 32 and is a Doctor of Pharmacy.  He recently moved back to Greenville. Both our children graduated from Clemson, and so we are Clemson fans through and through.  Go, Tigers!  

He sido maestra de primaria durante más de 40 años.  Estoy altamente cualificada tanto en educación primaria como en español.  Vivía en España durante un año mientras asistía a la Universidad St. Lawrence en el norte del estado de Nueva York.  Al graduarme vivía y enseñaba 3er grado en Tegucigalpa, Honduras.  Enseñaba 4º y 6º grados en Arizona.  Cuando mi familia se mudó a Carolina del Sur, comencé a enseñar español en la escuela primaria Sara Collins, donde permanecí durante 18 años. Durante los últimos cuatro años he sido un intervencionista de lectura aquí en Westcliffe.  ¡Este año estoy emocionado de unirme al equipo de tercer grado!

Mi esposo Richard y yo tenemos una hija de 35 años, Elizabeth.  Ella y su esposo viven en Chichago, y ella es patóloga del habla y el lenguaje. Nuestro hijo, Pete, tiene 32 años y es farmacéutico. Recientemente se mudó nuevamente a Greenville. Nuestros dos hijos se graduaron de Clemson, por lo que somos fanáticos de Clemson.  ¡Vamos Tigres!
