U.S. History is the required EOC class for Social Studies. This means that at the end of the semester, students will take a state-standardized exam worth 20% of their grade. Due to this, the U.S. History class is fast-paced and content heavy. It is absolutely critical for students to consistently attend class and participate. As a teacher, I will do everything in my power to help students ace the course, but ultimately the final grade is the responsibility of the student. Below you will find necessary information and resources that will help in prepping for the U.S. History EOC!.
The U.S. History End-Of-Course Exam, or EOC, is a state standardized exam worth 20% of students' final grades. The EOC covers questions from the 5 U.S. History Standards. Typically, the EOC is around 55 questions. Prior to the EOC, students will take 2 Benchmark tests over the course of the semester to determine how they are progressing through the content.
The U.S. History Standards, outlined by the South Carolina Department of Education, give us the blueprint for the questions that will be presented on the EOC. While educators do not have knowledge of the EOC questions in advance, we do have knowledge of the required terms that may be presented on the EOC. Therefore, vocabulary is a large aspect of the class!
By the end of the semester, students should have an understanding of each of the terms related to each standard.
