Originally from North Carolina, I am a graduate of Concord High School and earned my Bachelors degree in Music Education from Western Carolina University in 2000 followed by my Master's in Educational Administration from Grand Canyon University in 2011. While in North Carolina I served as Director of Bands at Cherryville HS and Central Cabarrus HS. After relocating to Florida I was Associate Director of Bands at North Fort Myers HS of Arts and Media. I finally settled in SC and was the director of bands at Greenville High School for 3 years. This is my 16th year at Hughes Academy and my 26nd year of teaching.
I have held ensemble membership in the Clarion Brass Ensemble, WCU Wind Ensemble, UNCC Concert Band. As a trumpet soloist I performed a variety of wedding engagements and special events across the southeast. Other professional experiences include membership in Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps in 1993 and Carolina Gold Drum and Bugle Corps in 2002-2003.Â
I often creative projects with wood and metal and I also enjoy hiking and mountain biking. I live in Simpsonville with my wife Jennifer, one dog and three cats.
