The Floriculture course is designed to teach technical knowledge and skills for entry-level positions in the production, processing, and distribution of flowers, foliage, and related plant materials including best management practices in field and greenhouse production of flowers and related plant materials and the arrangement of plant materials for ornamental purposes.
Typical instructional activities include hands-on experiences with planning, designing, and growing representative flower crops; preparing and analyzing growing medium; tissue culture; alternative propagation methods; greenhouse management practices including environmental controls; participating in personal and community leadership development activities; planning and implementing a relevant schoolto-work transition experience; and participating in FFA activities. The instructor will select units of instruction based on a local needs assessment.
