HOSA SHS
Southside High School HOSA
Welcome to the Southside High School HOSA Homepage! We are so excited to be introducing the new HOSA chapter at our high school. At HOSA, we offer various leadership opportunities, medical exposure/experience, and various other opportunities. This is a club at SHS that occurs during some lunch periods where we meet in Mrs. Hoffman's room. This club is more than just an extracurricular activity; it's a gateway to endless opportunities in the healthcare field. As founders of the HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) club at our school, we've created a dynamic community where students with a passion for healthcare can thrive. HOSA is a platform for students to explore their interests, develop valuable skills, and connect with like-minded individuals and professionals in the healthcare industry. Whether you're interested in medicine, nursing, public health, or any other healthcare-related field, HOSA has something to offer for everyone. One of the key benefits of our club is networking. Through guest speaker events, workshops, and networking sessions, members have the chance to meet and learn from healthcare professionals, educators, and industry leaders. These connections can lead to mentorship opportunities, internships, and even future career prospects.
Additionally, HOSA provides numerous opportunities for skill development. From leadership and teamwork to communication and problem-solving, members have access to workshops and activities designed to enhance their abilities and prepare them for success in the healthcare field. Community service is also a core component of our club. We believe in giving back to our communities and making a positive impact on the lives of others. Through volunteerism and service projects, members have the chance to make a difference while gaining valuable experience and building character. For those interested in testing their knowledge and skills, HOSA offers competitive events at the local, state, and national levels. These competitions cover a wide range of topics, including medical terminology, clinical skills, public health, and biomedical research, providing members with the opportunity to showcase their talents and expertise. Overall, HOSA is a supportive and inclusive community where students can grow, learn, and thrive. Whether you're a future doctor, nurse, or healthcare administrator, this club is your ticket to a bright and fulfilling future in the healthcare field.

This is an opportunity for students to present their original works of research. They will have the opportunity to present in front of various council members and it will take place at Southside High School. Works of all kinds that follow school guidelines are encouraged to apply. Students outside of Southside High School are also encouraged to apply. Hello! My name is Anwitha Kandula and I am a participant in the International Baccalaureate Diploma program at Southside High School. I created the HOSA chapter, SHSJR and TRS at our school because I wanted to bring new research and medical opportunities to SHS. This is an initiative that I really hope grows at SHS. I hope other schools, states, cities and countries eventually come to publish in our Journal and participate in our research symposium.

Welcome to HOSA! I am the Instructional Coach who supports the sciences at Southside, amd I am very excited to work with all of you! I have been a high school educator for 23 years, with the first 13 being in NYC. My original loves are biology and psychology, and I was the advisor for a dual credit research program back in NYC, with very similar goals as HOSA.
