My name is Kori Hillson, and this is my first full year teaching mathematics at Carolina High. My first semester teaching at Carolina High was Spring 2025. I'm looking forward to a fantastic year of learning and growth with all of you.
My path to becoming a teacher has been a bit unique. I grew up in New Jersey before attending college in Atlanta. I graduated in 1995 from Spelman College with a degree in Natural Science and from Georgia Tech with a degree in Electrical Engineering. After graduation, I had a rewarding career as an engineer, but I have always felt a strong desire to teach. I spent many years tutoring students in math in my free time, and last year I finally decided to pursue my passion for education full-time.
My husband, Darrell, and I have been married since 1996, and we've called South Carolina home for over 20 years. We have two adult children and, as of last year, a new daughter in law.
When I'm not teaching, I am always busy. I'm very proud to help run a food pantry at my church, and I enjoy serving my community. In my free time, you can find me spending time with my family and friends, working on all sorts of puzzles, and relaxing by watching movies and TV with my husband.
