Expectations
Peer tutors have been selected for this program due to their interest in serving others and their reputations for being one of Greer High’s finest. We set high standards for admission into this program and even higher standards for their performance in our class. Here is a brief list of our expectations for Greer High Peer Tutors.
1. Follow all the rules of Greer High School
2. Teach our students using the techniques taught during orientation
3. Come to class with a positive attitude, ready to serve others.
4. Complete all assignments on time
5. Always be on time for class.
6. Respect the property and materials of this class.
7. When you finish early, continue to interact with the student. Start something else or simply sit and talk. Students with disabilities rarely have an opportunity to have a conversation with a friend.
8. Remember that this class is about our students and what we can learn from each other.
Outstanding Peer Tutors
Each year we have a few peer tutors who exceed all of our expectations of peer tutors. They cross over that bridge that takes them from the peer tutor helping another student at Greer High to considering them a true life-long friend. It is our hope that all peer tutors have an opportunity to know the joy that comes from knowing our students at that level. We will recognize the peer tutors who best represent the philosophy of peer tutoring by exhibiting the qualities listed below.
An Outstanding Peer Tutor…
1. Has outstanding attendance and punctuality.
2. Presents a perfect lesson every time they come in our class.
3. Advocates for (or supports) our students by educating other Greer High students and members of the community about us.
4. Knows about the needs and rights of our students.
5. Has a good attitude about the students and the class.
6. Participates in all activities with the student.
