Introduces the field of Graphic Communication and User Interface/experience design including terminology, creative visual thinking/problem solving, layout, adobe creative software, tools, materials, graphic design history and industry standards. This course examines the essential techniques and ideas of modern and traditional graphic communication. Students will gain an understanding of influential art movements and art figures that played a significant role in the development of graphic design and visual communication. Students will also acquire the critical and technical vocabulary/ techniques needed to describe, analyze, and formulate fully functional designs and compositions for both print and web successfully.


All students are expected to participate in class discussions and are invited to think creatively about how images and objects from the recent past relate to our own contemporary visual creations that we will learn together as a team of young potential graphic artist. Students will meet required deadlines and demonstrate program knowledge through a series of demos followed by projects where students have full creative control of conceptualization.
