Just as teams were set to take Fury Field on Friday Night, lightning storms forced Fountain Inn and Woodruff into an extended delay, kick-off was pushed back to 9:20. But the weather was only one obstacle for the young Fury team as they faced a ranked Woodruff squad coming off a big Week 0 upset.
The Wolverines struck first with a 10 play drive that ended in a 22-yd FG and a 3-0 lead. The Fury fumbled the ensuing kick-off and two plays later Woodruff led 10-0. By half Fountain Inn trailed 24 - 0 and the team had a pair of costly fumbles.

Friday, August 19th will go down in history as the first Friday night Varsity football game for the Fountain Inn Fury. The Fury hosted the West Oak Warriors before a packed home crowd at Fury Field.
The Warriors struck first connecting a 31 yard pass with an 11 yard TD run to take a 6-0 lead in the 1st quarter. Jake Hilliard blocked the ensuing PAT, but the starting DE for the Fury had to exit the game following that play due to injury. Hilliard had already been a menace to the West Oak offense with a pair of tackles for loss.
The score remained 6-0 into the 3rd quarter when Cru Hall broke free on a swing pass from Jack Criswell and raced 78 yards down to the Warrior one yard line. That set up a Hall 25 yard FG to cut the lead in half.
The Fury defense held strong, getting an interception from Zach Madden and Caden Carnes pouncing on a loose punt fumble to help keep the game close. Hall tied the game early in the 4th quarter with a 29 yard FG.
Both defenses went back and forth, holding the offenses in check. West Oak converted a 4th and 5 late which allowed them to drive into FG range with under a minute to play. The Warrior kick doinked off the left upright and through to seal a 9-6 Warrior victory.
The Fury will host Woodruff this coming Friday.
