Fury Volleyball Rallies to Win Home Finale
A large crowd was on hand to see the Fountain Inn volleyball team take on Greer. It was Youth Night and members of the Fountain Inn rec community and players from our feeder the Gordon Gators were in attendance and Fury volleyball game them something to cheer for!
In the first set Greer raced out to a 10-3 lead and Coach McCormack had to use a timeout to settle her players. After that Fury slowly chipped away at the lead and won the first set 25-23. Falling behind, rallying and winning 25-23 would be the theme of the night.
Again in set two, Fountain Inn found itself trailing mid-match, but again rallied to take the set 25-23. Greer found a way to avoid the rally in set three and took the set 25-16. In the fourth, it appeared as though Greer was poised to force a fifth and deciding match as they built up a 23-19 lead. The Fury settled down and played their best volleyball of the night as they reeled off six straight points and won 25-23 to grab the 3-1 victory.
Fury closed out their home slate in the "44" and will close their regular season on Thursday at Southside Christian at 5:30. The girls will also participate in the JV Tournament at Woodmont on October 16th.
Fury Volleyball Holds Youth Night for Home Finale
It's the final "Fury in the 44" for volleyball as they host Greer on Tuesday night in their home finale in this inaugural season. It's Youth Night and members of the Fountain Inn Rec Department and programs will be on hand to be recognized. Tip is at 5:30 pm. Come out and support volleyball in the "44"!
Volleyball Falls at JL Mann and Riverside
Fury volleyball is experiencing all the ups and downs of a brand new program. Their trip to 5A power JL Mann was no different. The Fury struggled in the first set, but found a way to come back and battle in the second and third sets. Ultimately they would drop the match in straight sets, but they continue to show improvement against a string of more established programs.
Volleyball got a late start to their contest at Riverside because of traffic and a late bus. With no warmup time, the girls dropped straight sets to the Warriors.
Fury Falls at Home to Brashier Middle College
Fury volleyball pushed Brashier Middle College to the brink of a fifth set, but fell short and lost 3-1. Fountain Inn will be back in action on the road at JL Mann on Thursday.
Volleyball Goes on the Road
The Fury volleyball team started a busy week by traveling to Blue Ridge. The Fury pushed the match to four sets, but fell 1-3.
Fury Falls to Mauldin in Straight Sets
Fury volleyball dropped back to back home matches as they fell to Mauldin in straight sets. Fury battled the Mavs deep into the first two sets, taking a lead late in the second set before falling 22-25. In the third set, the Fury ran out of steam and Mauldin took advantage.
Busy week for the volleyball team as they play three matches in four days, including on the road at Blue Ridge and JL Mann and a home match on Tuesday vs Brashier Middle College.
Fury Fall at Home to Southside Christian
The Fury volleyball team continues to show growth as they battled Southside Christian for three sets, just coming up short in each set. Volleyball will turn right around an host 5A power Mauldin tonight at 5:30 pm.
Fury Falls to Pickens and Greer in Tri-Match
Fury volleyball traveled to Hillcrest High to participate in a tri-match with Pickens and Greer. Fury opened with traditional power Pickens, a team that had already beaten the Fury handily at the Hillcrest JV Invitational a few weeks earlier. Despite falling 2-0 to the Blue Flame, the Fury gave a much better effort and battled every point.
Up next was a best of three match with Greer. Again the Fury came up a few points short as they fell 2-1 to the Yellow Jackets.
Next up for Fury volleyball is a home match against Southside Christian on Tuesday, September 14th at 5:30 pm.
Fury Wins in Straight Sets, Moves to 2-0
After a busy Saturday facing some of the best competition in the Upstate at the JV Invitational at Hillcrest, Fury volleyball returned to the court to host Greenville Tech Charter High on Monday night. Originally scheduled as a road game, last minute changes saw the girls take advantage and defend home court winning in straight sets to move to 2-0 on the regular season. The girls will travel to Hillcrest to face Greer and Pickens on September 7th.
Fury Volleyball with Historic First Win
Fountain Inn volleyball defeated Greenville Tech Charter High School to claim the first win in program history. The Fury opened with a dominating 25-9 win in the first set before building a two set lead. GTCHS rallied to take the third set and held a 22-17 lead late in the fourth before a FuryUS rally propelled Fountain Inn to the victory. The Fury won their opening match 3-1 and will travel to the Hillcrest JV Invitational on Saturday. Congratulations to Coach McCormick and Fury volleyball!
