Maarijka Ashworth and Jackson McConkey Set PR's at State Meet
Only 8th graders, Maarijka Ashworth and Jackson McConkey etched their names in the Fountain Inn High history books as the schools first state qualifiers and they did so in style each setting a PR in the state meet held in North Charleston.
Maarijka swam Saturday in the Class AAA Girls Championship setting a PR in the 500 Freestyle with a time of 5:54.03. She also competed in the 100 Backstroke.
Jackson also swam two events on Monday in the Boys Class AAA Championship. He set a PR in the 200 Freestyle with a time of 2:05.50. Jackson also competed in the 200 IM, a swim which requires use of all four swim disciplines.

Maarijka Ashworth and Jackson McConkey Qualify for State
8th graders Marrijka Ashworth and Jackson McConkey become the first Fury athletes to qualify for a state competition, as they both compete in the AAA Swim State Meet to be held in North Charleston. Maarijka qualified in the 500 Freestyle and 100 Backstroke and will swim on Saturday, October 9th. Jackson qualified in the 200 Freestyle and 200 Individual Medley (IM) and will swim on on Monday, October 11th. Congratulations to Maarijka and Jackson on making school history!
Swim Competes at Greenville County Meet
The Fury Swim team was back in the pool on Saturday as they competed in their first Greenville County Meet. The girls opened the meet competing in the 4x200 Medley Relay with Maarijka Ashworth, Cadence Flaig, Maeli More and Cadence Zbin each swimming one of the relay legs. Ashworth also swam the 50 Freestyle and 500 Freestyle events. Flaig participated in the 50 and 100 Free. More swam the 50 Free and 100 Breaststroke and Zbin took part in the 100 Free and 100 Backstroke. Flaig, Zbin and Moore also swam the 200 Freestyle Relay with Haylie Gray. Gray also participated in the 50 Free and 100 Backstroke. Keira Rios swam the 50 Free and 100 Backstroke.
Jackson McConkey was the only boy representing Fury Swim and he participated in the 200 Free and 100 Butterfly events.
