Rehabilitation Behavioral Health Services After Hours & Emergency Resource Guide
After Hours Resource Guide- Spanish Version
Greenville County Schools Rehabilitation Behavioral Health Services (RBHS) Program provides mental health services in the school setting when school is in session. RBHS prioritizes our students' safety, and we have put together a list of resources and hotlines for our families and students to access when school is not in session and you have emergencies or safety concerns regarding your student.
The below information can be found on https://www.namigreenvillesc.org, along with more resources to better understand mental illness and what to do if you find yourself in a crisis:
What to do in a Mental Health Crisis if you are worried that your loved one is in or nearing a crisis?
Seek Help. Make sure to assess the immediacy of the situation to help determine where to start.
Is the person in danger of hurting themselves, others, or property?
Do you have time to start with a phone call to seek guidance, or do you need emergency assistance?
If the situation is life-threatening, call 911 or 988 and ask for someone with mental health experience to respond, like a Crisis Intervention Team.
988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline
Dial 988 or 1-800-273-8255 for the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. 988 has been designated as the new three-digit dialing code that will route callers to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (now known as the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline). When people call, text, or chat 988, they will be connected to trained counselors who are part of the existing Lifeline network. These trained counselors will listen, understand how their problems are affecting them, provide support, and connect them to resources if necessary.
The 988 Crisis Line will be able to:
Connect a person in a mental health crisis to a trained counselor who can address their immediate needs and help connect them to ongoing care
Reduce healthcare spending with more cost-effective early intervention
Reduce the use of law enforcement, public health, and other safety resources to meet the growing need for crisis intervention
Help end stigma towards those seeking or accessing mental healthcare
When you’ve got a police, fire, or rescue emergency, you will call 9-1-1.
When you have an urgent mental health need, you will call 9-8-8.
