Policies and Procedures

Kindergarten students are allowed to check out one book at a time. Students in first through fifth grade are allowed to check out two books. As a staff we encourage students to check out books that are on their reading level so they can read independently throughout the school day and at home. Please check with your child's teacher regarding their independent reading level.

Books are checked out for two week periods. Students are allowed to renew books as needed unless a book is on hold for another student. Fines are not charged for late books.

If a student loses a book it is their responsibility to pay the school media center its appropriate cost. Students that owe library fines at the end of the year will not be able to receive their report card. Please keep in mind that library fines always stay with your child while they are a student in Greenville County. Other schools will not allow them to checkout books if they owe library fines to another school

At FIE Personalized Learning puts our students at the center of their learning.

We are excited to announce that FIE will begin implementing the Personalized Learning initiative during the 2017-2018 school year! Personalized Learning puts our students at the center of their learning. Our Personalized Learning initiative means all students in grades 3-5 will receive a Chromebook to use as a tool to enhance their learning. Students will use this tool in a variety of activities with the support of their teacher. This year we will begin preparing our staff and students with the skills needed to effectively use these tools. We look forward to having this opportunity to support our students with the skills for tomorrow.
