"Let us remember: one book, one pen, one child, and one teacher can change the world."

Welcome students and families! My name is Jamie Gougarty. This year will be my fourth year in a Multi-cat Self-Contained setting. I have experience working in special education as I taught a resource class last year. Previously, I was the ESOL teacher at Northwood for the past six years.
Educational Background
I received my Bachelors degree from Marietta College in Ohio. I graduated with a dual degree in International Leadership Studies and International Business Management. My concentration for both degrees was in Asian Studies and Mandarin. While living overseas in Shanghai, I received a certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) from Jiao Tong University in Shanghai. In 2012, I repatriated back to Greenville, South Carolina so I could pursue a teaching degree from Furman University. I received my teaching certificate in 2014 with a concentration in elementary education grades 2-6. After receiving my teaching degree, I began the Masters program at Furman. In August 2016, I received my Masters of Arts in Special Education specializing in Learning Disabilities as well as an endorsement in Gifted and Talented education. I have acquired an additional 30 hours in the field of literacy.
