About the Teacher

I received my Bachelor’s degree in English from USC Upstate, my first Master’s degree in English Literature from Clemson University, and my second Master’s degree in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, AZ. Significant professional development classes that I have taken include: Gifted and Talented Endorsement classes, certification in AP English Literature, and AVID training in English. I previously taught English 1-4 for 13 years before becoming a multilingual program teacher (21 years total in public K-12 education).  I have previously taught at the university, high school, and middle school levels, but this is my first year in elementary school, and I am excited to work with younger students! I consider it an honor and a privilege to teach multilingual students, and I take my position as an advocate for multilingual students very seriously.  I love learning about other languages and cultures, reading, crafting, and being in nature. I am married, and I have one high-school-aged daughter and four grown step-children, the latter of whom have given me ten beautiful grandchildren (so far).
