All About Me

Welcome to Second Grade!!! My name is Elizabeth Slatten. This is my 20th year teaching at Crestview.  I taught first grade for 14 years and this is my 6th year teaching second grade! Boy, do I love second grade!! Crestview Elementary is a wonderful place to BEE and I know we will have a fantastic year together!

I grew up in Landrum, SC with my mom, dad, and my younger brother. I attended Skyland Elementary, Blue Ridge Middle, and Blue Ridge High.  In high school I played tennis and volleyball. I also sang in the Honors Choir and participated in the Teacher Cadet program. After graduating high school, I knew exactly where I wanted to go and what I wanted to major in. I attended North Greenville University where I majored in Early Childhood Education. I graduated in 2006 with my Bachelor's Degree.  I went back to school in 2008 and received my Master's Degree in Divergent Learning in 2009 from Columbia College. I love to learn new and exciting ways to teach every student in my class! 

On March 31, 2007, I married my college sweetheart, Josh Slatten.  We live in Landrum, SC.  He is from Anderson, SC and graduated from North Greenville University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Christian Studies. He is the pastor at Reedy River Baptist Church.   Josh and I have two amazing kids, Jake and Allie. Jake is in 10th grade and loves to play basketball. Allie is in 7th grade and loves to play the piano.  

 In my classroom I provide a safe, loving, and nurturing environment. I work hard to build a sense of trust among my students and I always encourage them to do their absolute best in everything they do. I love music and incorporate it into our classroom activities. We sing silly songs to help us learn, and listen to soft, classical music while we work. I love teaching and watching each student grow throughout the year.
