What I teach.
This year I have the pleasure of teaching English III CP. It is exciting, because we have fairly new textbooks and workbooks for this course that supplement the various novels we will read this year. We will read The Crucible, Of Mice and Men, Raisin in the Sun, Anthem. I feel like we are going to have a great time with the material.
The final course I am responsible for this year is Film Criticism. I hope to explore classic films and more modern critically acclaimed movies as well. I started with the film institute's top 100 movies of all times in selecting the films to show. I then try to judge student interest level in deciding to keep or discard the film for future classes, though I will still show films like Citizen Kane or Casablanca even if they complain about black and white. The emphasis in this class is not on becoming a great filmmaker but in learning to be a critical consumer of media.

Grading Scale
Grades will be weighted as follows:
60% Major Assessments (Writing Assignments, Tests and Projects)
40% Minor Assessments (Brief Writing Assignments, Quizzes)
Late Work Policy
10 points off per day, max of 60 if turned in by end of unit, max of 50 if turned in after the unit
