About Me:

Hello! I am Brian Bunnell – a Mechanical Engineer by education, but a Maker and Teacher at heart. I earned my Engineering Degree from Clemson University in 2000 and have been working in mechanical engineering design ever since. I began tinkering early on (creating crazy projects with my Dad), and I love teaching and explaining how and why things work. I authored “Mechanical Engineering for Makers, a Hands-On Guide to Designing and Making Physical Things” in 2020 to share practical knowledge with ALL makers, young and old.

My experience, interests and projects vary widely: I’ve worked at NASA; developed fuel cells; scanned military vehicles with 3D scanners; designed a variety of machinery; and built a homemade drift trike, hovercrafts and a kid-size drivable tank. Cars have also always been a major interest of mine. I have tinkered with many different cars and even built a small electric one when I was 14.

I am very excited to be the Emerging Automotive Research instructor, and my mission is to inspire others to use their creativity, technology and the items around them to make and learn awesome things. I look forward to bringing my experience, both personal and professional, into this exciting program.
