How do I get an instrument & supplies for my child?
OPTION #1:
Visit one of your local music stores
*there is a list on my website;
*you can also google ‘music stores Greenville, SC’ to find the information
a. The music stores will have all of the supplies you need. If for some reason they run out, they will order them for you and have them delivered to the school.
b. Give the music store the half sheet I give each student. This will give them the size instrument I have measured them for and the supplies you need. DO NOT let them tell you that you need a different size. If for some reason they are out of that particular size, you can borrow a different size for the short-term or borrow RGS from me until they get that size in stock.
OPTION #2:
Purchase an instrument from one of the 2 approved online vendors listed below.
***DO NOT purchase an instrument from eBay, Amazon or any other low cost site. These instruments will not work correctly and will cause your child to be very, very frustrated.
The 2 websites on the approved list are:
*It is okay to order the supplies from Amazon. (Books, shoulder rest, rock stop etc...)
OPTION #3:
For families with financial need, you can use a school instrument by paying a one-time maintenance fee. ($50).
Students playing CELLO or BASS:
There is a one-time $50 fee to cover any maintenance issues that may occur throughout the year.
The rental agreement will allow your child to use a school cello or bass during the school day. You will need to rent an instrument from one of the music stores for at home practice/concerts. You will also need to purchase the supplies.
**If you cannot afford to rent a cello or bass from one of the music stores, we have a limited supply of instruments here at RGS that can be used for at home practice/concerts. There is an additional $50 fee to use a school instrument at home. The fee can be paid via ‘My School Bucks’. See the handbook for details. You will still need to purchase the supplies.
