Open House for Theatre
Students will classify additional elements of dramatic structure (i.e. exposition, inciting incident, rising action, conflict, climax, falling action, resolution, and denouement) in both established, published works of Drama and in self or group written pieces . Students will analyze stories, scripts and performances to identify essential technical elements. (Benchmark T.CR IL.2 ) - Anchor Standard 2
Students will examine and take on the role of Director in a much more in depth manner than previously experienced, incorporating all necessary elements such as blocking, theme, conflict, staging, characterization, et al. Anchor Standard 4.( Benchmark T.P AM.4 ) .
As Director, students will collaborate with others to make cohesive choices on acknowledged published works and self written pieces. Anchor Standard 4. (Benchmark T.P IH.4 )
Students will attend in audience capacity live theatrical productions and write coherent reviews based upon their grasp of dramatic structure. Anchor Standard 5. (Benchmark T.R IL.5 , Benchmark T.R IM.5, Benchmark T.R IH.5, Benchmark T.R AL.5 , Benchmark T.R AM.5 ).
Students will reflect upon the rehearsal process and identify ways to implement the Director's feedback to improve the next rehearsal's performance. Anchor Standard 6. (Benchmark T.R IM.6 ,Benchmark T.R IH.6, Benchmark T.R AL.6 ,Benchmark T.R AM.6 )
Students are required to research a specific area of historical theatre and performance and present their findings. Anchor Standard 7. (Benchmark T.C IM.7 )
Finally, students will report how the theatre is a synthesis of the arts and how it can prepare them for a career, arts or otherwise. Anchor Standard 8. (Benchmark T.C AL.8 )
