Vocal Performance Course Description: Vocal Performance 1, 2, 3 Honors/4 Honors is an auditioned, advanced vocal ensemble that emphasizes a rigorous development and mastery of sound vocal techniques, comprehensive musicianship and vocal independence. It is a supplementary experience for advanced chorus students with advanced or superior vocal talents. Students study a wide variety of music including: Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, vocal jazz, contemporary and popular music, as well as traditional advanced choral repertoire in various languages. The students engage in choral art at a complex level in their study of proper tone quality production, music reading, sight-singing, ear training, and vocal flexibility as related to the styles performed. After school rehearsals and performances may be a required part of this course and are considered an extension of the honors level classroom.
