Objectives: One of our primary goals is to encourage children to develop positive attitudes about themselves and about physical activity so that they will choose to be physically active throughout their lives. Another of our primary goals is to help children develop the movement competence that enables them to participate in physical activity successfully.

Once attendance is taken, students have 5 minutes to change. Students will also be given 5 minutes at the end of class to change back. If a student comes in after the bell, he/she will be marked tardy.
Unexcused tardies will result in a 1 point deduction from their weekly 10 points. Recurring unexcused tardies will be dealt with possible writing assignments and/or phone calls home.
Uniform Policy
Students may wear any color athletic shorts/pants and t-shirts. Uniforms must meet the school dress code policy. Sneakers/tennis shoes are required. Students will be excused one time per semester. Each time after, 1 point will be deducted from the weekly 10 participation points. If the teacher deems it unsafe to participate, students will be assigned an alternate activity.
General Behavior:
We believe strongly in the right of each student to learn in an environment free from undue distraction. This means that every student should compose themself in ways that do not interfere with the right of others to learn.
Consequences of misbehavior are designed to encourage students to act in ways that maximize the chances of everyone to learn to the best of his or her abilities. Consequences may include point deductions, writing assignments, referrals, or phone calls home.
Grading:
50% – Health assignments & quizzes (10 points per week)
50% – Daily participation & dressing out (10 points per week)
Daily Participation means students are on task and actively engaged and meeting standards-based learning experiences. This includes teamwork, sportsmanship, cooperation, and following procedures to complete tasks. Students must dress out appropriately for physical activity in order to participate safely in class activities.
Late Policy:
It is expected that all work be turned in on time. However, when work is turned in late, a score of 7 out of 10 is the highest score that can be achieved.
