Information

Purpose:

The world is in great need of a big cleanup and starting from your community around us, you can change the world. Our purpose is to make life on land better, to benefit animals and people, and to improve the climate around us.

Overview:

Students from the Sterling School, Charles Townes Center and a teacher's son are starting a small group to go around in pick up trash in their communities. By this little impact, others will be influenced to start their own group. They hope to accomplish as much as they can to make a world a better place.

Why?

According to SCDHEC, “South Carolina generates about 4.2 million tons of this type of trash/garbage in a typical year.” [!] That is only in South Carolina alone! According to saveonenergy, " “The average American tosses 4.4 pounds of trash every single day." That might not seem like a lot, but there are 323.7 million people living in the United States. In total that amounts to: 1,424,280,000 pounds of trash, to put that into perspective that's the weight of over 4,000 blue whales! And that is just the trash we properly dispose of. We are trying to do as much as we can to help this problem and you can too.

How?

You too can help by simply not littering or if you want to make a bigger, better change for the world you can volunteer to cleanup litter yourself or even with other people. If that may be too hard for you to do and you want to do more, you can get a litter tracker app like the Greenville litter tracker app. For more information on how to help, click the links below.
