Hello, and welcome to 5th Grade at Heritage Elementary!  My name is Devyn Washburn, and I am thrilled to be your student's teacher for the 2025-2026 school year.  This is my thirteenth year teaching, and I could not be more excited to be at Heritage Elementary! I have taught third grade for three years, and fifth grade for nine years. I graduated from Travelers Rest High in 2009 and went to college at North Greenville University where I earned a BA in Elementary Education and the status of Highly Qualified in Elementary Education. I had the privilege of student teaching at Heritage, as well as working as a long-term sub in third grade.   In December of 2014, I earned my Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Concordia University. 

 I am married to an amazing man, Justin Washburn, who was my middle and high school sweetheart. We have two sons, Emerson and Hudson, and a large dog named Bella. I spell my name both as Devon and Devyn.  Both are correct, but I prefer Devyn.  A few of my favorite things include: coffee, the color turquoise, monograms (dWm), chocolate, the Atlanta Braves, North Carolina Tarheels, traveling, my planner, and spending time with friends and family.

In fifth grade this year, we have the great opportunity to team teach.  That means your student will have four teachers during the day and will switch classes. I will focus on the subjects of social studies and science while integrating other academic areas as available! We are all very excited to pour into your student academically and socially, and know that this will be the best year yet for your student!
