About Me

Greetings, 

I'm Darlene Vasano-Jones, and I love teaching art!  With over two decades of teaching experience, I've had the privilege of instructing students at both the middle and high school levels.

Upon stepping into my classroom, you'll immediately sense a warm and inviting atmosphere where all my students are encouraged to explore their creativity and engage in the learning process.

My journey began in sunny South Florida, where I spent the majority of my life. However, a visit to the beautiful city of Greenville left an indelible mark on my heart, leading my husband and me to uproot our lives and call it our new home.

I love all animals, and currently share my home with three inquisitive cats and three very sweet bunnies. When I'm not in the classroom, you'll find me exploring art museums and galleries, tending to my garden, or planning an adventure to an exciting place.

I truly believe in the profound impact of exposing every student to the world of art. Through the visual arts, I strive to instill invaluable life lessons, emphasizing the importance of practice, the power of craftmanship and detail, and the collaborative spirit that fuels great ideas. My aspiration is that each of my students leaves my class armed with the knowledge that problems have many solutions and that multiple paths can lead to success.

I anticipate a remarkable year ahead at Riverside Middle School, and I am excited to embark on an artistic journey with all of you. Let's create some exceptional art together!
