About Me

August 9, 2021

Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome to a brand new year of learning at Wade Hampton High School. This will be my fourteen year in education and I am very excited to have the opportunity to work at the best school in the district. WHHS has been "like WOW" for me ever since I've been working within the walls of the building. The new challenges, the changes in education, and the teaching through virtual learning will be just as awesome! I can not wait to start working with our students at Wade Hampton High.

I was born and raised in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida where I attended Plantation High School. In high school, I was Student Government Vice – President and lettered in four sports before graduating in 1987. From there, I attended Mercer University for my undergraduate degree in Psychology and Christianity. I received a Master’s in Clinical Psychology from Appalachian State University and have over fifteen years of experience working with emotionally disabled children in both outpatient and inpatient treatment facilities. I recently finished my studies in Educational Leadership at Gardner-Webb University and I am thrilled to be the new Administrative Assistant at WHHS!

I have been married for twenty years to my wife, Holly, who works diligently as a Technology Integration Specialist position at Oakview Elementary. Together we have four awesome children who each have their own personality and interests. I enjoy singing, music, writing, sports, watching Clemson football games, and just spending time with my family. I believe Wade Hampton High School has always pushed me to be the best person I can possibly be and I hope to instill this same sense of excellence onto all of our students. Go Generals!

Please feel free to contact me at 355-0114 if you have any questions or concerns. You can also reach me through email at drushton@greenville.k12.sc.us. All phone calls and emails will be returned within one business day.

Sincerely,

David L. Rushton
