At Hughes Academy, we are committed to supporting the growth and success of all our students—especially our striving readers. Read 180 is a comprehensive literacy intervention program designed to meet students where they are and help them reach their full potential.
Key Features of the Read 180 Program:
Personalized Instruction: Students receive a combination of whole group, small group, and individualized instruction tailored to their specific literacy needs.
Targeted Learning: The program follows a structured approach where students are expected to complete segments every 15 days. These segments focus on building vocabulary, comprehension, fluency, and writing skills.
Progress Monitoring: Students are regularly provided with their performance data, empowering them to track their own growth and set goals for improvement.
Weekly eReads: Every Friday, students participate in eReads, digital reading experiences that promote engagement and reinforce key skills.
Ongoing Differentiation: Throughout the week, students are engaged in differentiated instruction to address their unique learning styles and needs.
Independent Reading Expectations: To foster a love for reading and build stamina, students are required to read 1–2 books per quarter as part of their independent reading goals.
With Read 180, we aim to build confidence, improve literacy, and equip students with the skills they need for academic success and lifelong learning.
