Changes coming for Fall 2023
College Board (CB) is transitioning to digitally based testing for this fall's administration. In October, the PSAT/NMSQT assessment will be administered digitally (online format) with district-issued devices.
Things To Do Before Test Day
Read the PSAT/NMSQT Student Guide, available at https://satsuite.collegeboard.org/media/pdf/psat-nmsqt-student-guide.pdf. Be sure to review the prohibited items and prohibited behaviors identified in the PSAT/NMSQT Testing Rules.
All participants are expected to follow the district’s Behavior Code and Acceptable Use policies while on the school campus. Review these policies, available at https://www.greenville.k12.sc.us/Parents/main.asp?titleid=gcspolicies. Failure to follow these policies may result in dismissal from the test session, cancellation of scores, or other consequences/sanctions as outlined in the GCS Board Policies and/or College Board Policies.
If you do not already have a College Board account, create your account and follow directions from College Board so you can access your scores after testing. Neither the school nor the district will receive your scores. Instructions for setting up your account and viewing your scores can be found here: https://satsuite.collegeboard.org/psat-nmsqt/scores/getting-scores/your-scores.
Refer to the PSAT/NMSQT Student Guide for directions for completing digital PSAT/NMSQT practice tests.
What to Bring on Test Day
The following items are required for taking the PSAT/NMSQT:
A pen or pencil for scratch work (it doesn’t have to be a No. 2 pencil).
A fully charged, acceptable testing device with Bluebook already downloaded.
A valid photo ID for check-in if testing as an Away Student.
Though not required, consider bringing:
Snacks and drinks (which must be under your desk during testing)
An acceptable calculator—please see psat.org/calculator for full list—for use on the Math section of the test (if you prefer using a handheld calculator to using the embedded Desmos calculator in the Bluebook app)
Extra batteries, a power cord, and backup calculator
Practice Test
Take an official PSAT/NMSQT practice test to become familiar with Bluebook, including the types of questions you’ll answer and the exam tools you’ll use to take the test.
1. Download the Bluebook app at bluebook.app.collegeboard.org.
2. Go to Practice and Prepare on the Bluebook homepage, and select Full-Length Practice.
3. After you’ve finished the practice test in Bluebook, go to My Practice at mypractice.collegeboard.org and sign in with the same credentials provided by your school to view your score results and review your practice exam questions, answers, and their explanations.
