Class Overview

This course will guide students through the Hospitality and Tourism Management Industry. This course will explore the hospitality and tourism management industry's nature, concepts, and impact on local areas like Greenville, Charleston, and Myrtle Beach. This course will focus on foundational information about the hospitality and tourism industry and provide opportunities for students to gain insight into the field.

About me

Dr. Ernest E. Mackins is a native of Anderson, South Carolina. He comes to us from Anderson School District 2, where he was an Assistant Principal for nine years. He has been in education in the public school system as well as the military educational system for over 27 years of educational experience and 15 years of Business experience. He has been an assistant branch manager and a retail store manager. Dr. Mackins will be the Co-Chair of the CATE Department this year (2024-). As a Business Education Teacher in our Business Department, he is certified in Business Education and Science Education. He is a U.S. veteran who served for nine years, including during the Desert Storm Conflict. Dr. Mackins’s education includes a Double Major from Clemson University in Finance and Marketing with a minor in International Markets, a Master of Arts in Middle School Science (5th-9th Grade), a Master of School Administration and Leadership from Furman University, and an Educational Doctorate in Leadership from Converse University. He has been married to his wife, Erica, for 24 years, and they have two children, Adrian and Travis. Adrian attends Anderson University. Dr. Mackins is the Senior Pastor at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Anderson, SC; he preaches and teaches the truth of the Bible in a dark world where he is a community leader and a voice for the weak and oppressed. He enjoys time with this family and the kids’ grandparents.
