Class Overview
This course will guide students through the Hospitality and Tourism Management Industry. This course will explore the hospitality and tourism management industry's nature, concepts, and impact on local areas like Charleston and Myrtle Beach. This course will focus on foundational information about the hospitality and tourism industry and provides opportunities for students to get a taste of what hospitality and tourism are all about.
About me
Dr. Ernest E. Mackins is a native of Anderson, South Carolina. He comes to us from Anderson School District 2, where he was an Assistant Principal. He has 19 years of educational experience and 15 years of Business experience. He has been an assistant branch manager and a retail store manager. Dr. Mackins will be the Co-Chair of the CATE Department this year (2022-). As a Business Education Teacher in our Business Department, he is certified in Business Education and Science Education. He is a US Veteran who served nine years, a portion of which was during the Desert Storm Conflict. Dr. Mackins’s education includes a Double Major from Clemson University in Finance and Marketing with a minor in International Markets, a Master of Arts in Middle School Science (5th-9th Grade), a Master of School Administration and Leadership from Furman University, and he completed his Educational Doctorate in Leadership from Converse University. He has been married to his wife Erica for 23 years, and they have two kids, Adrian and Travis. Adrian attends Anderson University. Dr. Mackins attends Pleasant View Baptist Church; he is a faithful member and community leader. He enjoys time with this family and the kid’s grandparents.
