Experienced
I am an experienced Administrator serving three years as an Assistant Principal at Whitlock Junior High School in Spartanburg District Seven and two years as the Administrator/Director of the West Greenville Middle School Alternative Program here in Greenville County. I am excited to continue my journey as a professional educator here in my twelfth year at Hillcrest Middle as a Wildcat! I also have 10 years experience in teaching high school math.
Fairness & Firmness
I believe strongly in consistent discipline with high expectations for all of our students. This is an opportunity for our students to learn that even the world beyond school has rules and proper procedures to be successful and we all need to follow them. This includes myself, the administrative team, faculty, and staff. It is our goal to model the behavior we expect of all of our students.
Relationship/Team Builder
A key to educational success is relationships built both in and out of the classroom. It is my goal to build positive relationships with all stakeholders of the HMS community - students, parents, and staff. Beyond school, I have a strong interest in mentoring programs and have developed and participated in student mentoring programs as they have had a big impact on my own life and the success I have had in my career. I encourage all students and parents to reach out and find those CEOs (Chief Encouragement Officers) that can have a difference in their own life.
Compassionate & Committed
I am both compassionate about and committed to young people and their education. I have a background in math education with a Bachelors degree in Math Education from USC Upstate and a Masters in both Math and Administration from Converse College. I enjoy sharing my passion for math with students as well as my excitement for my hobbies which include basketball (Most sports!), bowling, movies, and travelling.
