Teacher's Guide to the Everglow Forest
Teacher's Guide to the Everglow Forest
The Literati Book Fair will be at Duncan Chapel from October 27-October 31! This is a very exciting week where our goal is to get books in students' hands, engage their imaginations through intentionally designed events and competitions, and create a week where all students have fun whether they can buy something from the book fair or not. Teachers, your collaboration, participation, and flexibility are greatly appreciated! Please see below for links to permission slips, dress-up day flyers, volunteer sign ups, and more.
Your classes will be able to shop during their regularly scheduled Library time! Please encourage students to be present to decrease any instructional disruptions during the week.
See FAQs at the bottom of this page!!
Permission Forms: English and Spanish
Permission forms are required for all students attending the book fair. Please send these home on Monday, October 20. Signed permission forms are due to the library or Mrs. B's mailbox by the end of day, Friday, October 24. Permission forms turned in late are not guaranteed a time to shop. For additional copies, please see attached forms.
Dress Up Days
Students and DC Staff are encouraged to dress up for our book fair themed dress up days! A dress up day flyer is attached.
Dragon's Gold Reading Competition
Collect dragon's gold coins for your classroom cauldron! Each hour a student reads earns your class 1 gold coin. Please place your cauldron in an easily seen place to encourage your students to read! The winning class of each grade level will receive a free play day in the library. The winning class of the entire school will win an additional super secret prize. Cauldrons will be placed in your mailbox Friday, October 24. At the end of each day, please report your hours using the attached google form! Coins will be delivered by the end of each day.
Dragon Egg Hunt Tuesday
Dragon eggs will be placed around the school. Students who show you that they found an egg may come to the library at your convenience to collect their dragon prize.
Volunteers Needed!
Do you have a planning period you'd be willing to help out? Do you have parents of your students that are a Level 2 Volunteer that would love a 20% off discount at the book fair? Please see the attached sign up sheet! Our times we need the most assistance are with our younger students: 1st Grade (10:30-11:15am) and K5 (11:45am-12:30pm).
FAQs
Can parents come with students to the book fair?
We ask that parents that would like to help their students shop to come during the students' assigned library time to prevent instructional disruptions. Parents that are unavailable during the school day are invited to attend the book fair on Tuesday, October 28 from 3:30-4:30pm.
When is our class's time to shop?
Classes will shop during their regularly scheduled library time to prevent instructional disruptions.
A student was absent on our library day! Can they still shop?
We will do our best to fit students in another day if possible for those that are absent or forget to bring money on their library day. If the student's library time is Friday; however, it would be impossible for us to find a time to shop as the fair ends Friday afternoon. If you have a student that missed your library day or did not bring money, please fill out this form and check your email for a time they can come.
A student brought a permission slip after the due date. Can they still shop?
As long as the student brings the permission slip BEFORE their library class, they will be able to shop. For students that bring them AFTER their library class, we will do our best to accommodate but can make no promises. If the student turns it in AFTER, please fill out this form and check your email for a time they can come if we can fit them in.
