Fisher Middle School | 2025–2026
Welcome to 8th Grade Math! This course follows the 2025 South Carolina College- and Career-Ready Mathematics Standards and is designed to help students think critically, problem-solve, and prepare for success in high school math and beyond. Students will explore real-world connections through hands-on learning and collaborative practice.

Proportional Relationships & Linear Functions
Equations & Inequalities
Scientific Notation & Exponents
Rational and Irrational Numbers
Geometry & the Pythagorean Theorem
Transformations and Volume
Data Analysis & Statistics
Our instruction supports Fisher’s IDEA philosophy (Innovation, Design, Engineering, Arts).
Minor Assignments
50%
Daily classwork, practice, participation, and homework (~8 per quarter)
Major Assignments
50%
Unit tests, major quizzes, and projects (~3 per quarter)
Students will follow the Fisher Middle School Redo and Retake policy, including one retake on eligible major assignments if they have not met the success criteria for the assignment.
Students are expected to:
Complete all work honestly and independently.
Avoid cheating, plagiarism, or using unauthorized AI tools.
Ask for help when needed to maintain academic honesty.
Violations may result in a GFA and further consequences.

Welcome to Geometry with Statistics! This course follows the 2025 South Carolina College- and Career-Ready Mathematics Standards and is designed to help students build a strong foundation in geometric reasoning, formal proof, transformations, coordinate geometry, and data analysis. Students will engage in rigorous thinking, hands-on learning, and collaborative problem-solving to prepare for success in high school and beyond.
Students will cover:
Basics of Geometry: Points, Lines, Planes & Constructions
Reasoning, Proof & Parallel Lines
Triangles, Congruence, and Similarity
Transformations in the Coordinate Plane
Properties of Quadrilaterals
Circles, Arcs & Sectors
Volume & Surface Area of 3D Figures
Coordinate and Analytic Geometry
Intro to Statistics: Data Collection, Analysis & Inference
