Hi! I am the Library Media Specialist for Skyland Elementary. While I am fairly new to the Media Specialist position, I am not new to the Skyland family. I began volunteering when my kids attended Skyland, worked with PTA for several years, worked as a substitute teacher, and worked as the Media Assistant until completing my Master's in Library and Information Science in 2017.
I have always loved reading and learning. It was through volunteering at school and falling in love with the library all over again, that I decided to return to school to become a school librarian (Media Specialist). I am always looking to begin a new adventure in a book!
I am married to my high school sweetheart and together we have three boys. Noah is a firefighter and married his sweetheart, Katie, in October 2020. Caden is in college, and Cole is a junior in high school.
Mrs. Kellems
Hi! I am Patti Kellems and am so excited about being the Media Assistant at Skyland. This is my 12th year at Skyland with most of those years spent in kindergarten and my third in the library. Previously, I was on the school PTA while our daughter, Jaclyn, was in school here.
I am orginally from California and graduated from U.C.L.A with a degree in History. While there I was a sportswriter for the Daily Bruin and was the school mascot, Joe Bruin! No surprise that I am a huge college sports fan. I spent almost 18 years in marketing for Unocal 76 and then the big move to South Carolina.
My husband, Jack, is a maintenance supervisor for a property management company and we have been married 27 years. Our daughter, Jaclyn is 24 and in the dental hygiene program at Greenville Tech while our son, Andy, 40, is a drug and alcohol counselor in Newport Beach, CA.
I love to sew, read and cook. Mr. Kellems is an avid gardner so each summer I can green beans, pickles, tomatoes and corn.
I look forward each year to watch your children grow in knowledge and maturity as they take their place in our world.
