The state mandated Erin’s Law is yearly instruction to all students that the district provides in various ways depending on the grade level. In Greenville County School, instruction is provided by the school counselors in K-5th, by the PE teachers in 6th and 8th, and by our district health education teachers in the 7th and 9th grade.
Traditionally, we have sent a generic letter home every year providing information about Erin’s Law. When Erin’s Law was originally put into place in 2014, the district sent this letter home in
efforts to be transparent and make parents aware of the new law. Now that we are in year 7 of providing this instruction, it is no longer new and, many times, is mistakenly used as an “exemption form” or has prevented our
district health teachers to teach at a school on their scheduled date because the letters had not been sent home.
Please view the informational letters below and contact your child's counselor if you have any questions.
