My name is Coach Tuten and I am entering my 5th year at Fountain Inn High School and my 12th year as a strength coach. As the strength coach at Fountain Inn I teach all weightlifting classes and conduct all training for our athletes.
I encountered my enjoyment of lifting weights as an athlete at Hillcrest High School. I always looked forward to training and considered it a privilege and blessing to get to go into the weight room as a student. Later in life as a student at Winthrop University I had an amazing professor Dr. Bowers who lead me to the career path of being a strength coach. I started my strength and conditioning career as an assistant strength coach a Furman University. During my time their I directed the training for the majority of Olympic sports and assisted the director of strength and conditioning with training football. After over 3 years at Furman I became the strength coach at AC Flora high school where I taught all of the weightlifting classes as well as conducted all training for athletes as I currently do at Fountain Inn. After 4 years their I was given the great opportunity to come to Fountain Inn high school where I serve in the same capacity. My goal as a strength is to help students and athletes reach their physical goals, but even more importantly instill life values in students and have a positive impact on them during their time at Fountain Inn High School.
As an athlete I played 3 years of college baseball including 2 years at Erskine College and 1 at Winthrop University. I earned a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science from Winthrop University and a master's degree in Athletic Leadership from Clemson University.
My wife Cassy and I are going on 10 years of marriage and have been blessed with 4 amazing kids Samuel, Beau, Corley, and Jack. Cassy is the youth director at Infinity Church in Fountain Inn and we love spending time with our church family and investing in the community with our church. We enjoy going to the beach, Clemson football games, playing sports, being outside, and snowboarding during winter.
I'm looking forward to a great fall semester in weightlifting this year.
