Shelly Sands

I was born in the small town of Huntington, IN. I was either running track, playing volleyball, basketball or softball year around and bowling at my grandpa's bowling alley on the weekends. I received a full ride to play basketball at IPFW and earned a little extra to play softball for two years. There I received my certification in elementary education and taught 4th grade for 5 years before moving to SC. After teaching at Bryson Middle and coaching JV basketball for one year at Hillcrest High, I was offered the head coaching position for basketball at MHS. I then started working on my secondary certification in education and have spent the last 29 years here at Mauldin in the Social Studies department (mostly in US History). During my time here I have obtained my masters +30 with a focus in Social Studies. I have also been a sponsor for Student Council and Fellowship of Christian Athletes as well as coaching girls Cross Country and distance track. I love this community, consider Mauldin my home and bleed orange ;) GO MAVS!!
