The primary purposes of our class will be to cultivate an understanding of history, comprehend cause and effect dynamics, and value the diverse array of human experiences.
In our time together, we will explore the shared histories of nations and civilizations, gaining insights into human thoughts, behaviors, and interactions throughout different eras. In these explorations, we can investigate the origins and mechanisms that contributed to the evolution of cultures over time. By grasping the socio-cultural and political phenomena in a time and place, we can foster an appreciation for the crazy patch-quilt of humanity.
We will "see" ourselves every day in the unfolding of the world history narrative and be compelled to think about ways we can use our knowledge to effect dynamic social change in the many worlds (i.e., school, neighborhood, family, etc.) which we inhabit.

Policy for Make Up Work in All Classes
Make-up work is defined as work students missed because they were not in school/class (for any reason). Any student who owes make-up work has a minimum of 5 school days to complete missed assignments with no grade penalty. (School Policy)
Please note:
Students who have missed multiple days may need more time to make up assignments. Such students should work with their teacher upon return to school to create a plan to complete work that may extend beyond the 5 day make-up period.
Providing accommodations for students who have Plans for Individualized Education (IEP), 504 Accommodation, and Individualized Language Acquisition (ILAP) is a requirement, which may extend the make-up work period for some students and require additional accommodated measures for others.
Students who miss tests should plan to make them up as soon as possible upon their return to school. If they are unable to make up tests immediately upon their return to school, they should work with their teacher to schedule a make-up time within the 5-day make-up period. For students who are out of school on the day a project is due, the project is due upon their return to school, especially if the student was in school on the date the project was assigned. Teachers should work with students who were absent due to illness to ensure they are able to complete the project in a timely manner.
After 5 days, make-up work becomes late work and is subject to the late work policies outlined below.
Assignments are expected to be submitted on time to support consistent progress and accountability. If an assignment is submitted after the deadline, the following late work policy will apply:
10 points will be deducted for each school day after the assignment has been graded.
***IMPORTANT*** Students will have access via google classroom of a grading receipt. The document highlights when assignments are due and when they have been graded. Assignments will not be present on the doc until their due date has been established.
