Skills Work
This class is about being prepared, working together, and staying safe. By following these rules, we can create a great learning environment for everyone.
Be Prepared and Present: Come to class ready to participate, both physically and mentally. This includes wearing the right athletic clothing and footwear. If you don't have the appropriate shoes, you won't be able to join physical activities and will be given a written assignment instead.
Communicate Respectfully: Use kind and encouraging words with everyone in the class.
Show Good Sportsmanship: Whether you win or lose, always be respectful, fair, and supportive of your classmates.
Have a Growth Mindset: Be open to learning, trying new things, and improving every day.
Create a Safe Environment: Follow all directions and use equipment properly to keep yourself and others safe.
Work Together: Collaborate as a team to achieve our goals and support each other.
No Food or Drink in the Gym: The only acceptable beverage is water!
When the Whistle Blows: The whistle is an important signal. When you hear it, immediately stop what you're doing, stand still, and listen for directions.
Following Directions for Drills: It is important to follow all instructions for drills and activities. This keeps everyone safe and helps us use our practice time wisely. If you don't follow instructions (for example, kicking a volleyball during a non-kicking drill), you will be asked to sit out of the activity. You can rejoin once the teacher gives you permission.
All personal electronic devices must be put away and out of sight for the entire class. If a device is seen, it will be immediately confiscated. A phone call will be made home, and a disciplinary referral will be issued.
Not meeting expectations will result in a verbal warning and may be removed from the activity.
If you are not following instructions (for example, kicking a volleyball during a non-kicking drill), you will be asked to sit out of the activity.
You will be allowed to rejoin the activity once the teacher gives you permission.
If you don't have the appropriate shoes, you won't be able to join physical activities and will be given a written assignment instead.
If the behavior continues, we will contact home and issue a referral to administration.
