Chromebook Troubleshooting
When Should You Troubleshoot your Chromebook?
Your Chromebook is moving slow.
The mousepad stops working suddenly.
Some of your keys on the keyboard are not working.
You can't connect to the internet.
Google Chrome is acting strange or is moving slow/not loading.
When Should You NOT Troubleshoot your Chromebook?
Your Chromebook is physically damaged. (screen is broken, keys missing from keyboard, not charging, etc)
You receive error messages when trying to log in. (use old password, locked out of Chromebook, etc.)
If you have one of these issues, ask your teacher to fill out a Chromebook Repair Form for you.
Slow Computer?
Try a Hard Shutdown: Hold down the Refresh Button and the Power Button at the same time. Wait a few seconds before turning back on.
Having Issues with Chrome? (Slow, Not Loading, etc)
Update Chrome: Go to your Chromebook's Settings. Select About Chrome OS at the very bottom on the left side. Select Check for Updates.
Note: This will make sure that your Chromebook's Chrome is up to date. If after updating, your Chrome is still not working, restart your computer. If it is still not working, ask your teacher to submit a Chromebook Repair form for you.
Did Your Mouse Disappear? Is Your Camera Not Working? Are Some of Your Keys Not Working?
Power Wash Your Chromebook:
Press ESC + REFRESH + POWER all at the same time, then release
When prompted to insert a recovery USB stick, press CTRL + D
Press ENTER
On the OS verification is OFF screen, press ENTER again
After the chromebook reboots, click GET STARTED on the welcome screen
Connect to GCS GUEST network
Click Accept and Continue
Click Done on the “Enterprise enrollment complete” screen
Stuck on the "Enterprise enrollment" screen? Press the esc button.
Note: If after Power Washing your Chromebook, it does not fix your issue please restart your Chromebook. If the restart does not fix the issue, please have your teacher submit a Chromebook Repair form for you.
Are your language settings incorrect?
Change Language Settings: Go to your Chromebook's Settings and scroll all the way down. Click Advanced and scroll down to the Langauges and Inputs section. From there, select Languages and change it to your preferred language.
