About Me

- - - Meet Ms. Batson - - -

An English teacher and librarian who never liked school or reading… yes, that was the beginning of my story and now I absolutely love both! The MMS Media Center is my home away from home and nothing makes me happier than to connect a student with a book or character with whom they can relate.

It was not until college when a teacher took an interest and invested extra time in me that I began to love reading! The time she spent with me gave me the confidence to advance in my education and grew a desire in me to help other students do the same. I wanted to be a high school teacher, but straight out of school I was offered a middle school position in Spartanburg 6 and found it was my perfect fit!

I taught English for 6 years and after getting my Master’s Degree, I began working in the MMS library. I had the pleasure of working with Mrs. Jane McVay for 13 years, but this year began a new part of the journey with Mrs. Cleo Hahn. We both love our library, our students and our staff!
