Course Description: This course is designed to develop and improve the leadership skills each person possesses. Areas from goal setting to team building to personal relations to problem solving will be covered. Learn what leadership is all about by learning about your leadership style, developing goal setting skills, communication skills, decision making skills, teamwork and much more. You will develop your leadership skills further by studying time and stress management, parliamentary procedure, peer pressure, self-confidence, assertiveness and a positive attitude. Students will work with leadership projects within the school district and the community including an elementary student-mentoring program. This course can be a lot of fun while we learn. But, each person must come to class with an open mind, respect for others, a willingness to participate, and a sense of dedication to the class. The more you put into our activities the more you will get out of them. 

Course Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be to: -Effectively use a variety of leadership skills in their everyday lives -Effectively use a variety of communication strategies -Understand the importance of taking action in one’s community

Calculation of Grades: Student progress is assessed during each nine-week period over the entire school year.  A student’s progress is reported as a grade based on the South Carolina grade reporting system:

90 to 100% = A     80 to 89% = B     70 to 79% = C     60 to 69% = D     0 to 59% = F

A student must earn a minimum grade of 60% in order to receive credit for this course.
