1. Class Procedures and Rules
Gym, Outdoor, and Locker Room Guidelines:
Enter and depart through assigned (enter/exit) doors. Wait in your squad spots to be dismissed to leave, go outside, or to any different location.
Respect others and equipment.
Come prepared for class with athletic shoes. Crocs / slides / sandals are not acceptable shoes for participation in PE.
Follow dress code.
No food/chewing gum or drinks in the gym, bathroom and locker room.
Be on time to class and sit in assigned squad spots.
When going outside for PE, remain on the sidewalk until your teacher gives permission to go into the bus loop or street. When returning from the football field or basketball courts, wait at the gate until the teacher gives permission to go.
Please be respectful and clean shoes off before re-entering the building. If you make a mess, clean it up.
All electronic devices are turned off and put away (1 warning, then referral). See school rules.
Clean up after yourself.
All bookbags will be stored in the locker room during class unless instructed otherwise.
Stick deodorant only. No perfume or body sprays allowed for safety concerns.
Have your Chromebook charged and with you each day.
Use proper etiquette when using the computer for class work and in interactions with classmates as well as teachers.
Plastic, clear water bottles--NO glass. Water bottles remain with your backpack for the duration of class. Do not take outside.
2. Dressing Out Policy: RMS students will be allowed to participate in PE class with the clothes they wear to school. If they desire they can change clothes in the locker room. If they change clothes in PE, he/she can request a locker and bring his/her own PE clothes that are within the dress code guidelines. Students are expected to be prepared for participation in gym class. Proper shoes should be worn or brought to school with you. Crocs, slides, sandals, plastic style shoes, and slip on shoes are not acceptable shoes for participation in PE.
Missing appropriate shoes: 5 points deducted per day
3. Participation Grade will be given based on giving effort on the lesson/activity being taught that day.
4. Safety:
Students will be excused from physical activities with a doctor or parent note stating an exact reason for the excuse. A parent note will only be accepted for a 2 day period, after which a doctor's note will be required. A doctor’s note is required for a student to return to active participation.
We will perform the following emergency drills during the course of the semester: Fire drill, Hurricane/Tornado, lockdown, lockout.
5. Course Outline This is intended as a guide only in assisting the teacher in planning units of instruction. When necessary, adjustments to the material covered will be made. You will be given Health assignments throughout the semester in addition to a Sex Ed unit.
